Building a Data Quality Program

E-learning Course: Building a Data Quality Program

This eLearning course has a dual purpose. First, it provides a step-by-step approach for profiling a physical data set and analyzing the results to recommend quality improvements, including:  planning and staffing the project, selecting the pilot data set, profiling the data layer by layer, describing defects and anomalies, documenting the project, and how to formulate recommendations to enable business decisions about remediations, accounting for business and technical impacts. Concepts are illustrated with many examples from multiple industries. in addition, the course provides a clear path to leverage the approach, method, and techniques for any data set, creating a solid foundation for organization-wide data quality policies, processes, and standards.

The intended audience is development teams, subject matter experts, data stewards, analytics teams, data owners, and data management staff. The emphasis is on collaboration between information technology and business unit staff. Based on multiple successful implementations of this approach, the course provides a clear path and ensures tangible results for any data quality effort.

The course is 60 minutes in length with an accompanying quiz and a detailed Data Quality Workbook template, to be populated corresponding to project activity steps, and then reused for any data exploration effort.
