Data governance initiatives frequently fail because they are not integrated with other organizational data management processes. 85% of the metadata in most businesses is gathered and created during the data modeling phase. However, none of that metadata is regulated. Data modeling is frequently viewed by organizations as a project deliverable that should be stored when the project is complete, but by capturing metadata during its creation, searching for it later can be avoided.
